Poonhill – Ghandruk trek is one of most prominent and urban trekking route. While some remote accommodation of Nepal doesn’t have the basic facilities as the toilet paper and towel, this trek is quite different. You can find some shops on the route for basic supply, so you don’t need to carry much more. Bag Weight for Poonhill – Ghandruk Trek

You can take only 15kg weight across Pokhara airport – and that’s an ideal weight for the trek to high Himalayas of Nepal. In guided trek, your porter carries 10 kg of your weight and you need to carry rest on your own. So, minimize the packing. Know the Itinerary for Poonhill here.

Map

Though the Poonhill – Ghandruk trek route is obvious and you wouldn’t get lost, having a map is always a safe idea.

Backpack

Get a light and sturdy hiking backpack.

Trekking Permits

You will need two trekking permit for your Poonhill – Ghandruk trek that can be taken from Kathmandu or Pokhara. The cost is here.

A Water Bottle

A water bottle that can be refilled with filtered or pre-boiled water and also a Water purification tablets or Steripen

Cash

It is ideal to carry sufficient local currency ( I remember seeing one ATM in Ghandruk but I am not sure if it works).

  • A hat and a set of Glove
  • A scarf or balaclava
  • A lightweight waterproof jacket
  • An insulating jacket or vest

Other Accessories

You may carry additional accessories like a towel, toilet paper, gadgets, slippers and more depending on your needs. A few of them are listed below.

Food to Carry for Ghandruk – Poonhill Trek

You can get the food at tea house stops during the trek, but it is good to carry a Snickers or energy bars and energy drinks (They can cost 4 to 6 times more in the trekking route)
