This region gets impressive number of visitors all-round the year and even more during monsoon. The high-altitude arid of Mustang lies north to the Annapurna massif and thus create a sharp contrast to the monsoon lushness.
The trial passes through the of the Kaligandaki George (deepest gorge in the world). As you pass on, you get to go through scattered Buddhist villages, red-walled monasteries, rim of steep canyon walls and past hidden caves. Finally, you will reach the forbidden kingdom of Lo Manthang- rare examples of living Tibetan culture. This is the best option for Nepal monsoon season.
Upper mustang trek takes 12 to 14 days.
Lower Everest Region
Once in Nepal, trekkers cannot afford returning back with a close-up view of Everest. While the base camp trek to Everest is not possible during monsoon, this is compensation.
There are a many great treks in the lower region of Everest during the monsoon which takes 5 to 6 days. The region is quite prodigious during the rain showers and the clear morning offers a great view of Himalayas up in the Khumbu.
Nar and Phu valleys trek
This is a very famous winter trekking destination. The regions in the northeast of the Annapurna region can be accessed by branching off from the Annapurna Circuit. You can drive to north upto Koto Upper and then start trekking. You can trek back to the Annapurna Circuit from Thorung La to Jomsom, and finally flying back to Pokhara from there.

Dopla trek- Nepal monsoon season
I can say Dopla trek is quite underrated trekking circuit in Nepal- it deserves better treatment. The area have been allowed to foreigners in 1989 and still remains mystery to rest of the world. The trail of Dolpo trek is centered on the Phoksundo lake- Nepal’s deepest lake. This magical crystal blue lake is located between the mountains. The area has a lot of cultural offerings along with Tshowa Monastery to learn about the Buddhist culture. This is among the best Nepal Monsoon Season.
The trek starts from Juphal, Nepalgunj where you can drive or fly and it takes 12- 14 Days.
Humla’s Limi Valley Trek
This remote trekking location has stored the virgin Nepalese culture. Nevertheless, this is a great hiking route of Nepal. This isolated trail offers an unparalleled panoramic mountain view of Mt. Saipal and Mt. Kailash. You can also immerse in the Buddhist culture of the region. You can also choose to go from Hilsa (Nepal’s longest river Karnali, enters the country from Hilsa) after crossing the Nara La Pass. If you are lucky, you can also encounter elusive snow leopard . In the same time, you can also see musk deer, and blue sheep.
The trek begins from Simiko which is accessible by air and takes the duration of 17- 21 Days.
With the onset of June, the monsoon starts as a drizzle and then gets voracious at end of August. The thick monsoon weather descends like a beast and all your dream trek gets really impossible. Not surprisingly, months of June through August don’t attract hordes of trekkers and adventure junkies to Nepal. Fortunately, the summer wanderers can sill explore some routes along the Himalaya Trails that lies in the rain shadow, which blocks the passage of rain-producing climate systems. While it’s not a 100% no-rain guarantee, they generally receive much less rain. So, here are the lists of five places you can visit in Nepal during monsoon
Mustang
This isolated village, known as the “kingdom behind the Himalayas” is a great place to visit during winter. It brings you closer to the local culture and the unique lifestyle in Mustang region. Unlike the upper Mustang, which is a long trek, Lower Mustang has easy transportation access.
You can go for a short trek or jeep rides and enjoy camping in Mustang. You can also visit the Orchards in Mustang region.
For Mustang, you can get flights, buses or jeep from Kathmandu and Pokhara (Jomsom is 20 minutes airtime from Pokhara).
Best Places to visit in Nepal in summer 2020
Pokhara
Whether it’s for monsoon or dry, summer or spring, Pokhara is the best place to visit in Nepal. Also named as “Cherapunji” of Nepal, Pokhara comparatively gets higher rainfall. But the rain usually gets voracious in the evening while the morning and the day are rather calm and clear.
Pokhara has spectacular scenery, adventure, good accommodation, and great food availability. The places blend nature with luxury while the streets are like the chilled-out version of Thamel. You can do cycling, paddle the boat, some sightseeing and cave visiting and even short break nearby.
Pokhara is only 6 to 7 hours drive from Kathmandu.
Chitwan National Park:
Have a keen inters in flora and Fauna- Chitwan is the right place to visit during monsoon. The place shows an alternate facet of Nepal, other than the ascent to mountain foothills. It is a place for natural life seeing in the safari-sort climate.
The place encompasses a tropical storm atmosphere, with less rain. The place is also known for its unique cuisine- iconic spicy fried goat served with rice, momos, sukutikhaja set, and others.

Lumbini
Lumbini, a Buddhist pilgrimage site has famous Ashoka Pillar (built by the great emperor of India), beautiful garden full of flowers, the temple of Maya Devi (Mother of Lord Buddha) and a bathing pool. Many countries such as India, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, France, Myanmar, Japan, Germany, etc have constructed their won Monastries (vihars) in the place. You would love to spot the one made by your country. And the luxurious lounges will just enhance your winter experience in Lumbini. Nepal moonsoon season can be well celebrated in Lumbini.
Not just sightseeing, Lumbini is a great place to know about Buddhist tradition and practice some Meditation. Located in the southwest of Kathmandu (in Rupandehi district), Lumbini is 9 hours drive from the capital.
